The Cosmic Ordering System:
A guide to realising your dreams
by Barbel Mohr

The cover of Barbel Mohr’s The Cosmic Ordering Service says that “it’s the book that everyone’s talking about.” And for quite a while now, that’s been true. It has sold over a million copies worldwide. And it was even cited as being responsible for the comeback of one British celebrity who had all but been forgotten by a fickle public. So when I came across it in an airport bookshop, I added it to my pile without a second thought.

At exactly 100 pages, The Cosmic Ordering Service feels more like a pamphlet than a book. But in a lot of ways, this is a compliment. Too often these days it seems books, and in particular those of a self-help slant, go on and on when a good editor could have cut them down to a quarter of the size. And perhaps that’s just what happened here.

What we are left with is the essence of Mohr’s musings and teachings. She shares with us how she stumbled upon the cosmic ordering service. This is the concept that the cosmos and all that it has to offer can be viewed as something of a catalogue. All we have to do is to decide what we want and place an order. Then we simply sit back and wait for our desire to be delivered by what Mohr calls a real-life Universal Parcel Service.

Mohr reveals she tried it out as something of a joke and to her surprise it worked. She then did it again and again and again. Pretty soon she had become something of a master or addict at it, depending on your point of view. But through her give-it-a-go approach, she learned what worked and what didn’t. Drawing on her personal experiences with the service, she offers techniques and tips as well as humour.

I quite enjoyed Mohr’s pithy style. It’s straightforward and to the point. You might say that it provides the nuts and bolts on the cosmic ordering service. And while more could be said, I don’t know that it would have made for a better read.

The Cosmic Ordering System is available at Amazon.
