Isn't it time you faced your demons?
Thursday 9 June 2005
Not so long ago, I decided to take a break from London life. This city mouse packed his bags and moved to rural Spain. My mission? To learn about village life and experience what I thought must be a simpler way of life.
So far, it's been a time of settling in. I've done some travelling. And I've done lots of manual labour - you see, I concluded before setting out on this odyssey that to understand rural life I needed to roll up my sleeves and do as the locals do in this part of the world where people still live off what they are able to grow from the soil.
As a neophyte farmer and newcomer to these parts, the locals have approached me with equal measures of suspicion, curiosity and warmth. At first, due in large measure to my limited Spanish, our conversations consisted of them explaining the local ways - how to clear a terrace, how to dig an irrigation channel and when it was my turn to use the water.
But now that I'm more comfortable with my Spanish and they are more at ease with the new stranger in the village, the topics of our conversations have become more varied - especially when they learned about my work as an intuitive.
Last week, for example, I was taking a break from the morning sun when the woman from the terrace above approached me and asked me whether I believed in demons. After quickly ascertaining whether the slant on the question was supernatural, religious or metaphysical, we exchanged our personal views and ideas on what we meant by our internal demons.
Much to my surprise we shared very similar perspectives. We agreed that demons are forces internal and present in all of us. And arriving from very different starting points, the two of us had even concluded that our demons consist of negativity, which constrains us and tricks us into thinking that we are somehow limited, or even imprisoned.
In my work as an intuitive and psychic, I consult people on a regular basis who are wrestling with fears, addictions and other harmful impulses. They are often motionless and mesmerised by what they believe to be external forces. Each situation is unique and yet there is one thing that I see again and again. The chains holding them back are, more often than not, already loose and there's a key within reach to free them - if only they would.
The first step is to be able to see our chains or limiting beliefs and behaviour - our demons. The next step is to slay them and retrieve the power that we had relinquished. Our challenge is to see that our demons become real only when we bow to their deceptions and illusions.
Isn't it time you confronted your demons?
If not now, when?
If you are still engaged in this struggle, perhaps I can assist. As I've done with other clients, I can offer intuitive insights to uncover what lies behind your demons, identify why you haven't yet slain them and suggest a way forward. I look forward to the next time I see the woman from the terrace above and what topics we will go on to explore.
Until next week,
Kindest regards,
