Is your life authentic and intentional?
If not, it should be!
This week I’d like to share with you the concept of living intentionally and authentically. It’s a concept which I spend a lot of time exploring with my Intuitive Life Coaching clients. For those of you who don’t know about my coaching, this week’s note will then serve as something of an introduction.
My Intuitive Life Coaching sessions are very interactive and completely tailored to the individual. But there is a framework that I’ve developed over the years. And what I try to do is to help my clients begin to see themselves as energetic beings and then, with that understanding, begin to manage their energy responsibly and consciously. (Now, if you’re not sure what I mean by ‘energetic being’, then perhaps you might want to take a moment to go explore this and come back.)
As a preliminary matter, there’s a question I ask my clients to gauge how much work we’ll have ahead of us. It’s a simple and straightforward question. But don’t be fooled, its answer reveals everything.
How do you feel right now?
When I started coaching, I was amazed at how many people said that they didn’t know. That’s right, grown adults didn’t know how they felt. As someone who began working with his emotions (read energy) from a very young age, this response used to stop me in my tracks. And I quickly learned that repeating the question and even giving them a moment to consider the question again didn’t help. They simply didn’t know. With the right techniques and a firm, guiding hand, however, we always managed to unlock the door.
So right now, I would like to ask you to take a moment – that’s right, stop reading this long enough to answer the question for yourself. How do you feel right now? Once you’ve answered that I want you to tackle this one. How do you like your life? And for those of you brave enough, try facing this one. Are you doing what you want to do in life? If not, why not?
They are such simple questions. Yet what they stimulate within us is anything but simple. I’ve been working with people for so long now that when I get the answers to these questions, I can assess their energy anatomy without even having to do a reading on them. Like I said, the answers reveal it all.
Perhaps the single most important thing I learn from these questions, besides whether my client can connect with their own feelings, is whether they are living intentionally and authentically.
When we live with intention and authenticity, we know ourselves. We know what we feel. We know what we think. We know what empowers us. And we know what causes us to lose energy. If you think that you don’t lose energy, let me ask you when was the last time you felt drained. There, you now know what it means to lose energy.
Living intentionally and authentically is about discovering who you are and why you are here. (And as an aside, each of us is here on this planet with a mission. You just need to find out what it is). It’s about discovering what you like and what you don’t. And then applying this knowledge in such a way that you spend more time doing the former and less of the latter.
Intentional and authentic living is also about taking control of your feelings, thoughts, attitudes and beliefs. The first step, of course, is finding out what you feel and think. In my experience, that happens relatively quickly. As soon as we start digging around, it comes out without too much effort. But what we do with that information is where the real challenge comes in.
As soon as we have this insight into ourselves, our spirit, which might have heretofore been silent, starts to become more vocal. That little voice in us starts saying things like I know better than this or I know I don’t like that. And for those of us ready for the next step, the little voice starts asking you why you are still doing this and that. What’s happening when this internal dialogue gets underway is that our spirit is urging us to begin to live with intention and authenticity.
If you are reading this article, then consider this your wake-up call. No, it’s not by chance that you’ve found your way here. I stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago. There’s always a reason. We might not immediately see it and understand it, but it’s there.
The fact that your inner self has led you here is a sign. And it’s one that shouldn’t be ignored. The stakes are too high. You see, your spirit is pushing you in the direction of considering how you are living your life (read managing your energy). If you’re exceptionally strong, you can undertake this spiritual challenge on your own. Or you can work with someone like me or anyone else who is skilled in waking people up to the responsibility of managing their energy. But however you do it, you need to do it – and NOW.
Living intentionally and authentically is more than just knowing yourself. That’s only the first step. It’s what you do with that knowledge that really matters. When we become conscious, we return to the driver’s seat of our lives. The autopilot fog we will have been operating in up to that moment lifts. We develop clear vision. And we must take back control from what used to govern our lives.
Our focus changes from an externally-based way of living to a perspective that is best described as inside-out. And in so doing, we change what we can, we let go of what we can’t and make peace with what’s left over.
It’s not easy and it’s not for the fainthearted. No-one ever claimed that the path to becoming conscious and enlightened was. But if that little voice has started trying to get your attention, heed its call. Don’t wait for illness or personal tragedy to force you into action. Remember what they say about an ounce of prevention.
I actively encourage all of you reading this article to begin taking steps to get to know yourself better. But don’t stop there – act on what you discover and let it become the basis of the choices you make. Only then will you fully understand what it means to live intentionally and authentically.
If you are ready for this journey and would like to work with me, book an Intuitive Life Coaching session and let’s get started. Like I say, the fact that you are reading this should be telling you something. Click here to find out more about my sessions. And finally, this week over at PsychicBridges,
I take a fresh look at the ancient art of palmistry. While it’s arguably the poor relation of the esoteric world, it’s time for it to come out and stand proud. You’d be surprised by all that’s in your hands! Read my article here.
I always welcome your thoughts and feedback on IntuitiveBridges, so let me hear from you by clicking here.
Until next week,
