Being active in your healing is worth the effort!

As a Medical Intuitive, I read people’s energy. What I perceive are impressions of attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, behaviour patterns, experiences and events in their lives, all of which have played a role in their health. Some people come to me for confirmation of what they suspect. Others have come to learn to see themselves in a completely new light. But all of them have known at some level, deep though it may be, that something was wrong.

Simply telling someone that they are losing energy or have an energy block isn’t enough. Very few people would know what to do with that information to plug the leak or clear the block. So I give my clients very specific and practical advice on how to improve their wellbeing. And I make myself available to follow up with them to answer questions and discuss what steps, if any, they had already been taking to improve their health.

During these conversations, I am often met with people who cannot understand why they aren’t getting better. Sometimes medicine they’ve been taking hasn’t performed as they had expected. Other times they have turned to a holistic therapy without success. What connects these otherwise very different situations is that their approach has been passive.

It comes as no surprise that so many of us take the passive path when it comes to our health. Western society, in large measure, ignores health until something goes wrong. At that point, we react out of fear and out of ignorance. We don’t know what’s wrong, we don’t know how we got there and we definitely don’t know how to get better. So, we go passive.

Time was when this traditional approach to healing sent us running to the doctor as an omnipotent caregiver who would cure us with a magic potion, lotion or elixir. When we didn’t feel well or something was wrong, we’d reach for the phone, make an appointment and get the prescription filled. That worked for a while.

It’s my observation that as society’s understanding of what it meant to be human and to be alive transcended the confines of the physical body we began to need something more. We began to appreciate that we had to treat the spirit as well as the body to maintain a state of wellbeing or to heal.

Instead of turning to the family doctor or the health clinic, we started seeking out alternative and complementary treatments, such as acupuncture, hypnosis and reiki. For many these therapies have worked miracles. But sometimes they don’t. And it’s my belief that it’s all down to how we approach these, or any therapy for that matter.

When we are passive, we give our power away. We are, in effect, admitting that we don’t know what to do and that we are incapable of getting better on our own. On a symbolic level, we revert to the archetype of the child as what we are really doing is crying out for our mothers to make it all better again.

An active approach to healing involves acknowledging that we are responsible for every aspect of our lives, that we’ve played a role in our illness and that we have to look to and at ourselves during the healing process. Am I suggesting that we turn away from what conventional medicine and other passive treatments have to offer? Absolutely not.

Being active in our healing doesn’t exclude any treatment or therapy. It simply means that we have to embark on some serious soul-searching to get to grips with why and how we arrived at the point where we needed healing. It calls for us to analyse and assess the choices that we’ve made in our lives – sometimes even those that we made before we even incarnated.

Active healing isn’t easy. And it requires that we act on the information we receive during our self-examination. It can turn our lives upside down. It, in essence, forces us to rewrite the rules by which we live and redraw the person that we are – on the inside as well as on the outside.

If you’ve been pursuing a treatment without success, then I urge you to consider whether you have been as active in it as you could be. If not, then try looking inside, not outside, for guidance, inspiration and healing. Connect with the energy of your illness, ailment or situation. Perceive what it has to share with you. And then, of course, follow where it takes you.

Sometimes we need help to get started. That’s what I aim to do with my clients. My Medical Intuitive Assessments don’t just offer insights into that burning question why? They empower so that the healing process becomes one that is active and authentic. Click here to find out more about my Assessments and book yours today!

And this week over at PsychicBridges, I look at how past lives can affect us in this lifetime and how we can find out who we were, what we did and how it’s influencing us today. Read my article here.

Until next week,
