The Law of Attraction always works - ALWAYS!

The Law of Attraction has been getting a lot of press at the moment. It’s the notion that like attracts like. As a principle, we’ve always known about it. It’s the nugget behind such sayings as birds of a feather flock together and so forth. However, we are now no longer observing it, we are actively engaging with this universal law to bring about more of what we want and less of what we don’t want. Or at least, that’s how it’s supposed to work.

This past week I had a couple of clients whom I coach on a regular basis who confided in me that they had been trying to apply the Law of Attraction in their lives. But individually they spoke of their frustration and disappointment in how it was working – or rather not working.

They each had their goals. One person straightforwardly wanted to attract money into her life. Another wanted to attract a thing, a possession. And the third wanted to bring a certain situation into his life. They felt that they had placed their order with the cosmos but that they had in effect received a temporarily out of stock notice in return.

When I dug a little to clarify what they were doing, it became very clear that in fact it was working – just not the way that they had intended. And so this week I decided to offer some insights and, hopefully, encouragement to those of you out there who aren’t getting the results you had wished for from the Law of Attraction.

The first thing is to really get to grips with what’s behind the Law of Attraction. We have to understand that it states that we, energetic beings, function like magnets. What energy we generate and what we put our energy into, we get more of. Intuitively, it make sense to us. For example, when was the last time that you started your day off on the wrong foot and in a pessimistic mood only to find things going from bad to worse? Negativity attracted negativity.

It’s such a simple law. And it’s always at work – whether you are aware of it or not. What we put our energy into we get in return. And therein lies the key. You have to focus on what it is that you want – and not the fact that you don’t have it right now.

That might sound a little odd. For example, one of my clients said that she didn’t think it was reasonable or even sane for her to go about her day as if she were a millionaire. To a certain extent, she’s right. But let me suggest where I feel that she and too many others go wrong with the Law of Attraction.

When you direct your attention to the thing that you want or the situation you are trying to bring about, you cannot help but notice that you don’t have it right now. If you’re not careful, it becomes something like a dog trying to catch its own tail, running around in circles but not going anywhere. In the end, your thoughts gravitate to the absence of what you want instead of your goal.

What I advise my clients is to begin by defining what it is that you want very specifically and as concretely as possible. Get pen and paper out. Write it down. Draw a picture. But make it as real as possible. And then, ask yourself why you want it. Don’t be satisfied with the first thing that comes to mind. Be prepared to dig a little.

When you’ve got your answer, ask yourself another question, namely why you don’t have it already. Finally, with those out of the way figure out what will be different if your wish were granted. What would life be like? How would you act? Would the passer-by on the street notice something in how you carried yourself?

What you’re aiming for is to be able to identify the feeling you’ll have when you have what it is that you want. This is the essence - and you’ll want to bottle it, figuratively speaking. This is what you want to concentrate on. It’s all about how you’ll feel when your wish is granted, not what you’ll have as a result of the wish being granted.

The reason this works is because it conforms to the Law. Remember, the Law states that like attracts like. What you’ll be feeling will be the feeling of someone who has what you want. You will, from an energetic perspective, be sending out that vibe. Just like you created that bad energy, you’ll now start creating good days. And pretty soon after that you’ll find that you arrive at where you wanted to be.

Despite what we might say, it’s my observation that we humans like complicated things over simple ones. And because the Law of Attraction is so simple, it throws us when actually it couldn’t be more straightforward. I use it and it works. My clients use it and it works for them. It can work for you – so long as you apply it correctly.
